July Durable Goods Orders provided a negative impetus to start trading on Wednesday. Orders rose only 0.3% versus expectations for a gain of 3.0%. June was revised to a better reading, slipping just 0.1% versus the initial reading of down 1.0%. Durable goods orders ex-transportation was off 3.8% versus expectations for up 0.5%.
