Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was that the decision by the Fed at the August 10th FOMC meeting wasn’t as definitive as its statement made it appear. It was no surprise that the Kansas City Fed President Hoenig was in opposition to quantitative easing by reinvesting the estimated $400 billion in agency and mortgage debt repayments.
